NI Group
Networking and Internet Group consists of 4 research laboratories
Intelligent Systems and Networks Research Laboratory
ISN Lab: The Intelligent Systems and Networks (ISN) specialized research laboratory focuses on systems and networks in various aspects such as resource allocation in Software Defined Networking (SDN) on a large scale (Large SDN), IT Automation on networks and cloud services systems, including the design of efficient protocols and algorithms for use in networks for specific events such as finding optimal routes for disaster evacuation like tsunamis or earthquakes, etc. It also studies the design of algorithms and protocols on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) to extend the lifespan of WSN networks.
Laboratory Faculty: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chotiphat Poranavalai, Asst. Prof. Dr. Laphat Praditthasanee
Intelligent Embedded Systems Innovation Research Laboratory
IESI Lab: The Intelligent Embedded Systems Innovation research laboratory (IESI) has been established to support research and innovation development related to embedded systems. The research and development topics cover embedded system components from basic hardware and software levels to application levels, including the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to create intelligence for future embedded systems. It also focuses on creating research and development opportunities for students at bachelor, master, and doctoral levels to produce research that solves problems or improves current methods and stimulates project development that meets the needs of private and industrial sectors now and in the future.
Examples of research and development topics under the Intelligent Embedded Systems Innovation Laboratory include embedded technology rescue robots, mobile robot tracking inside buildings using inertial sensors and fingerprinting techniques, ant algorithm applications to improve energy efficiency of robots, hybrid temperature recording monitors in the hard disk industry, enhancement of black-level analysis process by linear programming for vertical handover decision-making, indoor positioning using classification mechanisms, wireless sensor device selection in the gas industry using hierarchical analysis and decision tree diagrams, providing Wi-Fi network access services via drones in container yard areas, and intelligent waste collecting robots.
Laboratory Faculty: Asst. Prof. Dr. Olan Wongwirat, Asst. Prof. Dr. Anantapat Anantachai, Asst. Prof. Dr. Supnnanda Chotpiphan
Smart System Research Laboratory
SS Lab: The Smart System research laboratory was established for research and innovation development in information and communication technology, focusing on studies and applications such as automatic network management systems, intelligent network traffic management and control, highly resilient ad-hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, and intelligent transportation systems.
Examples of previous research include infrastructure-less communication systems for disaster situations, infrastructure-independent traffic data collection systems, coordination systems for emergency medical vehicles, autonomous self-driving vehicles, as well as programmable network management and traffic control systems.
Laboratory Faculty: Prof. Dr. Suksan Panichpapaboon, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sumeth Prawawat
Internet of Things (IoT Innovation Laboratory)
The Innovation Creation Laboratory was established to invent and create innovative works based on the Internet of Things concept in various areas such as education, health, agriculture, daily life, and industry. It covers both hardware and software components of embedded systems, emphasizing enabling students to produce creative works and applied research to solve current problems, and encouraging the development of projects that can be applied for daily convenience and meet government and private sector needs to improve efficiency.
Laboratory Faculty: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panwit Tuawanuti
