

KMITL IT collaborates with a Japanese university to launch a Double Degree Program in Data Science
Today (Monday, March 2, 2026), the School of Information Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) held a promotional event for the Double Degree Program for Data Science and Business Analytics at Project-based Room 2, School of Information Technology building, KMITL. This is under the academic cooperation with Musashino University, Japan.
The event started from 10:30–11:00 a.m. with Prof. Dr. Kanpong Warattanpanya, Deputy Dean of the School of Information Technology, KMITL, honored as the chair to welcome and open the event, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in data science. Assistant Prof. Dr. Suwit Poomritthikul, the project supervisor, provided detailed information about the operations.
The delegation from Japan, led by Prof. Dr. Yasushi Kiyoki (Dean of Faculty of Data Science), Takashi Kumagai (Program Manager), Prof. Dr. Virach Sornlertlamvanich, and Prof. Dr. Thatsanee Charoenporn, gave lectures on the MIDS curriculum structure, teaching approaches, as well as academic and professional opportunities in Japan.
The presentations from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00–2:00 p.m. focused on explaining the study plans, admission requirements, and student preparations, opening the path for global learning contexts.
This Double Degree Program offers students the opportunity to study Data Science in Japan for at least 1 year. Upon graduation, students will receive 2 degrees: one from KMITL and one from Musashino University, Japan.
Additionally, students can extend their studies to a master’s degree in Japan with an additional 1-year option, reflecting the collaboration aimed at concretely developing Thai students' potential on the international stage 🌏
