Best Prize and Grand Prize from the International Innovation Competition InterHack 2025
Congratulations to the undergraduate student team from the School of Information Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), for winning the Best Prize and Grand Prize at InterHack 2025: ICT Convergence for Human-Centric Solutions, organized through collaboration between King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Busan ICT Promotion Agency (BIPA), and Pusan National University (PNU), Republic of Korea. The event was held over 6 days from November 16 to 21, 2025, at Bangsaen, Chonburi Province, supported by 🇰🇷 BIPA – Busan ICT Promotion Agency, 🇹🇭 MHESRI – Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESRI), including experts and challenge providers from Depa, AMATA, and mentor teams from both Thailand and Korea.
This competition served as a platform for students from both institutions (KMITL and PNU) to jointly develop solutions related to Public Safety, including disaster management systems, weapon control and public area safety systems, elderly care innovations, and concepts of an Inclusive City. All these reflect KMITL's philosophy that 'Innovation for Humanity' emerges when youth from diverse cultures learn together and confront real-world challenges.
Undergraduate students from the School of Information Technology, KMITL, received 2 awards from this event, namely
Best Prize for the project titled “SafeSignal,” an intelligent system to enhance safety in public areas by applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect SOS hand signal gestures via existing CCTV cameras in the area. In emergencies, victims can send SOS hand signals to call for help immediately. The system identifies the camera location and notifies the nearest agency in real-time, reducing rescue response time, improving emergency handling efficiency, while respecting users’ privacy by blurring faces.
The team developing this project consists of 4 members: Ms. Chalisa Santithanyachok (Fourth-year undergraduate student, Information Technology program, School of Information Technology, KMITL) Mr. Kasidit Bamrungsuk (Second-year undergraduate student, Aerospace and Geoinformatics Engineering program, Faculty of Engineering, KMITL) along with inter-institutional teammates Ha Seungwon (School of Computer Science and Engineering) and Lee Kayeon (Department of Business Administration), students from Pusan National University (PNU), Republic of Korea.
Grand Prize for the project titled “SafeWalk,” a navigation application designed to increase pedestrian safety, especially at night when the fastest route may not be the safest. The app integrates safety data such as crime rates, CCTV coverage, street lighting, crowd density, along with real urban context like public service points, convenience stores, and motorbike taxi stands to analyze and compute safety scores for each route. This helps users make informed and confident route choices.
The development team comprises 4 members: Ms. Pranpriya Mengmangmi (Fourth-year undergraduate, Information Technology program, School of Information Technology, KMITL) Ms. Viramon Tamraksa (Fourth-year undergraduate, Computer Science program, Faculty of Science, KMITL) and inter-institutional teammates Lim Taemin (School of Mechanical Engineering) and Jung Euichan (School of Public Policy and Management), students from Pusan National University (PNU), Republic of Korea.
The InterHack competition is part of KMITL’s mission to nurture globally responsible citizens who understand world challenges and are ready to create positive impacts through technology and innovative entrepreneurship.
