The development team collaboratively created the work “Midnight at Road Side” by deeply interpreting the theme “Mask”. They incorporated diversifiers “Own The Road” and “Stay Local” to reflect local context, identity, and culture clearly. The result was a simulation game of roadside checkpoint scenarios in provincial areas, where the “mask” serves as a key element for disguise, adding dimension and interest to the game's story.
In terms of gameplay, it simulates a rookie police officer working alone at a roadside checkpoint in the provinces without knowing who will visit. The game portrays vehicle and document inspection processes systematically, paired with outstanding Pixel Art graphics that are beautiful and perfectly match the overall atmosphere, resulting in a unique identity and an impressive player experience.
The 2ND RUNNER-UP award was won by team Alumirai consisting of 8 undergraduate students from the Information Technology program, School of Information Technology, KMITL, including
The development team chose to convey a different concept from the general object meaning of “mask”, reinterpreting it as a “face mask” or skincare and cleansing. They created an action-style game with a unique identity titled “The Mask Cleaner” which perfectly combines novel concepts with fun and creative gameplay.
The game requires players to shoot bubbles to clean the face, remove blemishes, and press pimples on the skin. This is the core gameplay mechanism designed to be easy to understand yet challenging.
The game’s highlight is its innovative and creative interpretation of the theme, distinct from conventional frameworks, combined with accessible gameplay. It also emphasizes visual and sound design, creating a fresh and diverse gameplay experience each time by using a palette color randomization system and thematic music tracks including Black & White, Y2K, Cyberpunk, Summer, and Spring.
These elements allow players to feel different moods and atmospheres in each playthrough, increasing engagement and fun with varied forms.
This success clearly reflects the students' potential in creative innovation, ability to apply knowledge to actual work development, and systematic teamwork skills under time constraints and competition conditions effectively, demonstrating the readiness and capability of modern students to become professional game developers and technologists in the future.
